3D Robot model - sleeping or awake - crafts for kids ages 9-12

A drink straw can be used to change the robot's condition, sleep or wake up, arms up or down. A more complex 3D model creative activity from a paper template from the Adventure craft kit. We recommend it for 9-12 year olds. The steps are:

1. Cut out the robot parts, the small circles, the arm parts from the template.

2. Cut off a piece of brown drink straw that is just sticking out of the robot when you cross it through the robot side's holes. Make sure the holes are not too large. Cut a longer piece of colored drink straw. Cut a small hole in the center of the brown drink straw, being careful not to cut it completely. Insert the colored drink straw through this hole.

3. Follow now the second page of the A6 card in the Adventure craft kit. Place the end of the robot head at the end of the colored drink straw. It can also be glued inside. Then insert the brown drink straw into the holes on either side of the robot body so that the end of the colored drink straw where the robot head is is also in the box. So as the colored drink straw is moved, the robot's face will move up and down. Fold the back of the robot body so that the colored straw protrudes. Glue the parts together.

4. Fold and glue the legs together. Glue them to the robot body.

5. Plug the round hole portion of the arm into a piece of colored drink straw. Plug the "hand" part of the robot into the other end, see the picture here. Place the finished lever on the straw part protruding from the side of the robot. Don’t be loose, it should be more fixed, tight. Repeat with the other arm.

6. The game can begin! Move the back of the colored drink straw up and down and you can see the position of the arms and the face of the robot change. Adjust the arms so that when the robot is asleep, its arms are down, and when it is awake, it is up.
